During this workshop, participants will be invited to share in the inspirational dream of the young Syrian architect, Mohammed Kteish, whose response to the destruction of his beloved home city of Aleppo was to scavenge whatever materials he could find amongst the debris and preserve the city’s fallen landmarks in paper crafted form. Participants will first travel through Mohammed’s vision and memories of Aleppo in a Virtual Reality experience based on his work and then will be encouraged to emulate his example by reimagining and reconstructing Zagreb. They will then record a story about what they have built and then assemble their buildings to create a cityscape. Alex and Andy, workshop coordinators, will then process their city into digital form and create a new virtual-reality city, which the participants can explore using their mobile devices.
