Middle-aged engineer Jan Rudinski (Janez Vrhovec – Pula Silver Arena for Best Actor) arrives in a small industrial town to work in machine assembly. He takes up lodging at the house of a local hairdresser Rajka (Milena Dravić). Though Jan at first resists the seductive powers of the attractive, but much younger girl, the two strike up a romance. The story takes a tragicomic turn when Jan cannot decide between work and love and Rajka meets a handsome truck driver. A travelling circus is also thrown into the mix.
