Exhibition: 100 Years of Welles
America’s and world’s great filmmaker Orson Welles visited Croatia several times. The exhibition “100 Years of Welles” in Gliptoteka HAZU marks the 100th anniversary of his birth. It documents Welles’s visits and his encounters in our cultural circles during the making of Abel Gance’s Austerlitz, his own films The Trial and The Deep, at the premiere of The Battle Of Neretva or when having an audience with President Tito in Brdo kod Kranja.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue containing all the most important Welles’s interviews given to our media. As Welles was a well-known multimedia experimenter, the exhibition will also show the works of Croatian artists which are in some way connected with Welles’s work: Danko Friščić, Luka Hrgović, Željko Kipke, Božica Dea Matasić, Antun Boris Švaljek and Mio Vesović. Feđa Gavrilović is the author of the concept of the exhibition’s visual art segment and Daniel Rafaelić signs its cinema and history segment.
