Cannes Film Festival 1991 – Directors' Fortnight

This comedy drama about coming of age takes us to a Bosnian village where locals are preparing for a traditional wedding. Ibrahim, a widower with three children, wants just one more thing in his life: to find a wife for his son. Fourteen-year-old Nihad is forced to get married in order to fulfill the wish of his dying mother. A Little Bit Of Soul is Ademir Kenović's feature debut. It opened Director's Fortnight program in Cannes in 1991. Probably the most memorable moment in the film is young Nihad's line: "Man is but a beast, Senada. What little bit of soul he has – devil gave it to him just to make his life more miserable".

Ademir Kenović was born in Sarajevo in 1950. Director, producer and scriptwriter known by his films A Little Bit Of SoulThe Perfect Circle ands Secret Passage.
