In a dystopian future where borders between countries are indefinitely closed, a replica of Hannover becomes the only way to experience Western culture. Citizen Yu roams around this nostalgic yet eerie city built by the memories of the past. What does he really see?

Viv Li (Beijing, 1990) is a Chinese director based in Berlin. Her short film Across the Waters was screened in competition at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Light on Women's Worth Award. For her short documentary I Don't Feel at Home Anywhere Anymore, she received a Special Jury Mention at IDFA 2020. Her film Soil. Culture. River. People. premiered in the Orizzonti (Horizons) section of the Venice Film Festival. She is currently developing her debut feature film with the support of the Sundance Institute, Berlinale Talents, and Chicken & Egg Films.
