Claude Barras's new animated adventure (My Life as a Zucchini, ZFF 2016) tells a touching story about two children and an orangutan cub who embark on a fight to save the rainforest of Borneo. Keria lives with her father in Borneo, on the edge of the jungle. One day, she saves a young orangutan named Oshie and joins her cousin Selaiu on a journey that leads them to the heart of the forest and the spiritual world of the nomadic Penan tribe. When their green home is threatened by a logging corporation, the determined trio will team up to fight for the survival of their ancestral forest home. Through the eyes of the young heroes, Savages address important ecological themes and encourage children and young people to reflect on nature conservation and the importance of preserving rainforests and their inhabitants.
