Olivia Neergaard-Holm: Between Reality and Imagination

In collaboration with the Croatian Film Editors Guild (HFM), a masterclass will be held by Danish film editor Olivia Neergaard-Holm. Her filmography includes titles such as David Lynch: The Art Life, Holy Spider, The Ugly Stepsister, The Apprentice, and The Chronology of Water. In conversation with film editor Iva Ivan, Olivia will present examples while discussing her work, her long-standing collaboration with Iranian-Danish director Ali Abbasi, and the role of editing in building atmosphere, tension, and character psychology.

The Masterclass ends with an award ceremony and a screening of works from the Trailer Editing Workshop.

Olivia Neergaard-Holm

Olivia Neergaard-Holm is a Danish film editor and regular collaborator of director Ali Abbasi on his feature film projects Border (2018), Holy Spider (2022), and The Apprentice (2024). Her other credits include The Chronology of Water (dir. Kristen Stewart), The Ugly Stepsister and Victoria (2015), which was shot in a single continuous take. Her work spans Danish and international cinema, from independent and formally experimental films to international feature productions.

Iva Ivan

Iva Ivan graduated with a degree in psychology from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and in editing from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb. She has edited various documentary series as well as award-winning fiction and documentary films such as Horticulture, Strujanja, Babajanja, Pelican, and Good Children. She teaches at the Academy of Dramatic Art as an external associate. She is a member of the Croatian Film Editors Guild (HFM) and co-founder of the art organization Plafon.
