As student protests echo across the streets of Belgrade, two young people from opposing sides are brought together by a shared yearning for freedom. Upending the conventions of melodrama, comedy, and crime film, Jelena Maksimović’s fiction debut Until the Day Ends is an atmospheric story about transcending social divisions in a world where the personal is inseparable from the political. This contemporary coming-of-age love story had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in the Horizons program.
