Submissions for ZFF's Competition program are now open!

Zagreb, February 24, 2025

The 23rd edition of the Zagreb Film Festival will take place from November 10 to 16, once again bringing a carefully curated selection of films by emerging international and domestic filmmakers in its competition program.

The call for submissions for the festival’s main competition program is now open. The early deadline for international feature-length and short films is April 1, while the standard deadline is June 30. The submission deadline for the national short film competition – Checkers – is September 17, 2025. Films in all main competition categories compete for the Golden Pram Award and cash prizes.

Submission guidelines and the online entry form are available here.

Since its very beginnings, ZFF has been dedicated to showcasing and promoting debut films and emerging filmmakers. The main competition program has introduced the early works of directors such as Sofia Coppola, Taika Waititi, Radu Jude, Xavier Dolan, Debra Granik, Andrej Zvjagincev and Teona Strugar Mitevska. The Checkers competition has highlighted many up-and-coming Croatian filmmakers who later gained recognition both nationally and on the international festival circuit, including Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović, Sonja Tarokić, Juraj Lerotić, Hana Jušić, Josip Žuvan, and Dubravka Turić.

The festival is financially supported by the City of Zagreb’s Office for Culture, the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, the MEDIA sub-programme of Creative Europe, Kultura Nova Foundation  and the Zagreb Tourist Board.
