It is the summer of 2015. After several months of exhausting travel, a young Afghan woman, Fereshteh, arrives in Belgrade with her husband and three children. There she learns that her younger brother drowned and that he will soon be buried as a John Doe. As Hungary closes its borders to refugees from the east, and her husband and family pressure her to continue their journey, Fereshteh does everything she can to bury her brother with dignity. The latest feature of Serbian director Vuk Ršumović, who made a name for himself with the award-winning drama about a boy-wolf No One’s Child (ZFF 2014 – Audience Award), is a heart-wrenching story based on true events and a sharp critique of today’s society.
