A young single mother working as a cleaner takes on an extra shift to be able to afford a special present for her son’s fourteenth birthday. But soon everything starts to go downhill. Machines is a moving drama about the consequences of rising poverty and the shame that accompanies it, in one of the richest countries in the world.

 

Sigurd Bleken

Sigurd Bleken (1993) is a Danish-Norwegian director hailing from Copenhagen and based in Oslo. He graduated in directing from the Norwegian Film School in 2022. Before that, he studied theology at the University of Copenhagen.
