Film Festival Sustainability Workshop

 

The Network of Festivals in the Adriatic Region is organising a workshop on the sustainable business management of film festivals in cooperation with ZFF, events agency Eventful, and CE – MEDIA Desk Croatia. The workshop is intended for representatives of film festivals from Croatia and the region, and its intention is to expand and enhance successful sustainable practices with the aim of reducing the negative impact on the environment. During the two-day program, participants will learn how environmental, social and economic features can be integrated into various aspects of festival organisation, including venue selection, waste reduction, and fostering sustainability awareness among participants and guests.

 

The Head of Creative Europe MEDIA Desk Croatia, Martina Petrović, will present the criteria and recommendations of Creative Europe related to sustainable practices in the context of supporting film festivals, producer Morana Ikić Komljenović will introduce the participants to guidelines for sustainability, while Maja Domijan from the agency Eventful will present advice and practical experiences in organising sustainable events. Festival representatives will share the challenges they face when implementing sustainable practices in festival organisation.

Maja Domijan

Maja Domijan is the owner of the agency Eventful, specializing in sustainable events. With a Master’s degree in sustainable event management and over 10 years of experience, she prmotes events that reduce the environmental impact and promote positive change. In addition to events planning, she provides training and consulting to organisations that want to implement sustainable practices, with a focus on long-term benefits for the community and the environment, creating positive change and a lasting contribution to society.

Martina Petrović

Martina has a major in International Relations and a minor in Psychology. She has gained most of her working experience at the Department for International Cultural Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture in Croatia. She was later actively involved in establishing the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, where she was appointed the Head of MEDIA Desk Croatia. For her success and positive results, she received the first Albert Kapović Award. As the Head of Creative Europe MEDIA Desk Croatia, she has been actively involved in organizing innovative and creative workshops – important tools for education and networking between European film professionals.

Morana Ikić Komljenović

Producer and author with more than 20 years of experience in the audiovisual industry. For about ten years, she led the notable documentary production Fade In, and gained international experience as a co-producer, mentor, acquisition manager and decision maker at Taskovski Films from London. She founded Little Red Dot in 2018 and mostly works on the development of international co-productions, transmedia projects, education and empowerment programs. She often collaborates with Creative Europe Desk – MEDIA Croatia Office, the Croatian Audiovisual Center and Eurimages. She is a member of the EAVE expert network, the sustainability working group at Eurimages, holder of the ALBERT certified internship program and the GREEN FILM program, and an advocate of sustainability, inclusion and diversity.
