LUX Film Day at Tuškanac

On Saturday, Tuškanac is hosting the LUX Film Day: three finalists for the LUX Prize, presented every year by the European Parliament for achievements in European cinema, will be screened to the Zagreb audience.

At 4pm, we screen a delightful animated title successfully breaking all the rules of child cinema, My Life as a Courgette by Claude Barras, the audience and best feature film award winner at Annecy International Animated Film Festival.

At 6pm, the acclaimed German drama disguised as comedy, Toni Erdmann by Maren Ade, is scheduled. The German Oscar candidate is both a hilarious comedy and an uneasy dramedy about a complicated relationship between a stuck-up businesswoman and her wild and funny father.

At 9.30pm check out the film about a young woman and the beginning of the Arab Spring, As I Open My Eyes by Leyla Bouzid. Set in the summer before the Jasmine Revolution in Tunisia, Leyla Bouzid’s feature debut follows an up-and-coming underground band whose members are forced to grow up in a grind of fear, social oppression and their own youthful energy and rebellion. Eighteen-year-old Farah is a singer in an activist rock band.
