Seventeen-year-old Johanne is in love with her French teacher. She writes about her feelings in a private diary, which sparks tensions within her family as her mother and grandmother confront their own unfulfilled dreams. The film is part of director Dag Johan Haugerud’s Sex – Dreams – Love trilogy, praised for its authentic and sensitive exploration of human intimacy across different stages of life. Premiering at this year’s Berlinale, Haugerud’s romantic coming-of-age drama (Beware of Children – ZFF 2016; Love – ZFF 2019) is the first Norwegian film to win the Golden Bear in the history of the festival.

Dag Johan Haugerud

Norwegian writer, screenwriter, director and librarian. As a journalist and playwright, he collaborated with various dance and theater companies. He published four novels and had his directorial debut with the short film 16 levende klisjeer (1998). His first feature, I Belong (2012), won him the Norwegian Critics Award and four national Amanda Awards. His film Beware of Children was shown at ZFF 2019.
