The latest work by cult filmmaker Jim Jarmusch is a witty family triptych composed of three stories set in different countries. The film explores the relationships between adult children and their more or less estranged parents in the United States, Ireland, and France. Jeff (Adam Driver) and his sister Emmy (Mayim Bialik) are driving to visit their father (Tom Waits), whom they haven’t seen in years. In her lavish Dublin home, a mother (Charlotte Rampling) chats with her therapist on the phone while awaiting the arrival of her daughters, Timothee (Cate Blanchett) and Lilith (Vicky Krieps). Twins Billy (Luka Sabbat) and Skye (Indya Moore) visit their late parents’ Paris apartment for the last time. Told in Jarmusch’s signature style, blending humour and melancholy, Father Mother Sister Brother won the Golden Lion for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival.

Jim Jarmusch (1953) is one of the leading figures of American independent cinema today. A versatile artist — director, writer, musician, and producer — Jarmusch is known as a chronicler of social outsiders and pop culture. He achieved his first major success with Stranger Than Paradise (winner of the Caméra d’Or at Cannes), while his cult status was cemented by distinctive low-budget films such as Down by Law (1986), Night on Earth (1991), and Coffee and Cigarettes (2003). His latest feature, Father Mother Sister Brother (2025), earned him the Golden Lion in Venice.
