When two girls go missing in Belgium, Paul Chartier, an impulsive young police recruit, is assigned to Maldoror. This secret unit has been set up to monitor a dangerous sex offender. When the operation fails, fed up with the limits of the legal system, Chartier embarks on a solitary hunt to bring down the culprits. This tense crime thriller was inspired by the notorious 1990s case of Belgian serial killer and child molester Marc Dutroux, when when the rivalry between different police factions allowed the serial killer Marc Dutroux to remain at large for years. The case caused a major scandal in Belgium and resulted in a radical transformation of the police system.
