On the cusp of thirty, perfectionist Ilona feels an increasing pressure to settle down and achieve professional success. Together with her boyfriend, she moves into a seemingly perfect apartment in Vilnius, but an unexpected building renovation soon reveals that the old walls aren't the only things hiding cracks. When she befriends the Ukrainian worker Oleg, Ilona begins to question her life choices. Renovation is a masterful portrait of the lives of Lithuanian millennials caught between the endless possibilities of modern Western society and its pressure for success, compounded by the trauma of previous generations who grew up in the Soviet Union, whose shadow still looms over Lithuanian society and politics.
