Tereza has spent her entire life in a small industrial town in the Amazon, working in an alligator-meat processing factory. This 77-year-old is still vital and independent, but her autonomy is threatened when the government, in its effort to address an aging population and economic decline, establishes colonies for the elderly – places where older residents are expected to spend the rest of their lives. When the government lowers the age limit for entry, Tereza’s fate seems sealed. But she refuses to give in, embarking on a journey through the Amazon to fulfil one last wish: to experience flight. This warm, dystopian drama by Brazilian director Gabriel Mascaro (Neon Bull – ZFF 2015, Divine Love – ZFF 2019) about resistance and self-discovery won multiple awards at Berlinale, including the Grand Jury Prize.
