Sunday, 23rd October, Theatre SC (opening ceremony)

The jubilee, 20th edition of the Zagreb Film Festival opened on Sunday evening in the crowded SC cinema with the long-awaited national premiere of the award-winning film Safe Place, a poignant intimate drama directed by Juraj Lerotić. Festival director Boris T. Matić and executive director Hrvoje Laurenta were joined on stage by the director of the film, and the screening was followed by a Q&A.

At the opening of the ZFF, the Albert Kapović Award was traditionally presented, which this year was posthumously awarded to the prematurely deceased producer Darija Kulenović Gudan. The award was presented by Rea Rajčić, member of the Committee of the Croatian Association of Producers, and Daria’s daughter Enea Kulenović Gudan accepted the award on her behalf.
