At a usual Sunday lunch with his parents, the son, Ivan, a seemingly calm and composed man in his mid-thirties, in a sudden rush of emotions, causes a scene and opens up revealing his vulnerability and almost childlike need for his parents’ attention and support.

 

Ivan Veljača

Ivan Veljača (Zagreb, 1984) graduated in design from the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb. He works as a production designer on domestic and foreign feature films and TV series, including Dalibor Matanić’s Mother of Asphalt, Koko and the Ghosts, and Daniel Kušan’s Love or Death, Lukas Nola’s Hush, Dražen Žarković’s Mysterious Boy, Zvonimir Jurić’s The Reaper, Ognjen Sviličić’s These Are the Rules, Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović’s Murina, etc. He also tried his hand as a director of music videos for young Croatian bands, while his directorial debut came with the short fiction film Polenta (2015), for which he also penned the script. He is currently developing his feature film debut Folka.
