            A huge blackout has plunged Cuba into darkness. As residents take to the streets, trying to escape the gloom, the bonfires seem to herald the end of an era. In the safe haven of our house, my mother tells me about a vision that has been tormenting her for years.

            Alejandro Alonso is a filmmaker and photographer. He graduated in documentary film direction at EICTV, Cuba. His films have screened and received awards at festivals and exhibitions around the world, including IDFA, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Visions du Reel, Clermont-Ferrand, DOK Leipzig and others.
