In an old Soviet recording studio, the orchestra records a composition based on Pushkin’s play A Feast in Time of Plague. Then gradually, mysterious phenomena creep in among them – ghosts of the past or echoes of an impending disaster – creeping imperceptibly all the way to the very end. The film premiered at the Locarno Film Festival.
Ataka51 is a film collective from Moscow based in Paris, whose members are directors and screenwriters Alexander Epikhov, Dimitri Gorbaty, Philipp Ivanov and cinematographer Sergei Medvedev. In their artistic work, they often mix genres and use visual effects in unconventional ways, creating fabulative stories centered on hauntology and speculation. Their narratives often reflect on the changing and oppressive state of the environment from which the collective comes from.
