A black-humoured drama about Petar, a cranky priest who returns to his idyllic little village in Montenegro to take care of his ill mother. He is convinced that God has shut his eyes to human suffering. His wife has left him, his mother recognizes him only occasionally, and his rebellious teenage son is making his life even harder. This is, however, not the end to his suffering. When the villagers get an attractive offer to sell some land, Petar refuses to sell his share. Attempting to chase him away, a group of vengeful locals start causing him trouble and manage to persuade the whole superstitious village that Petar is the root of all their problems. Having won the hearts of audience and critics alike, The Black Pin was Montenegrin entry for last year’s Academy Awards.
