Jonás Trueba’s latest film, whose production company Los Ilusos already enjoys cult status in Spain, is a twisted anti-romantic comedy about love turned upside-down. After being together for 15 years, film director Ale and actor Alex decide it’s time to throw a party of all parties. How else to celebrate the end of their relationship? When they share this idea with family and friends, everyone is skeptical, but the newly-single couple won’t give up on the ambitious plan. Now they just need to convince the others. The film premiered in the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes, going on to tour a number of prestigious international festivals, including San Sebastián, BFI London, and Karlovy Vary.
