After a ten-year absence, Rona returns to her childhood home on the remote Orkney Islands in Scotland. She moved to London to become a biologist, but the big city offered unlimited entertainment, and Rona soon lost her bearings in a labyrinth of partying, drinking and drugs. Escaping her addiction, she returns to the harsh and wild Scottish landscape, where her childhood memories mingle with those of her time in London. Little by little, the reunion with the enchanted, wind-battered coasts offers her a chance for a new life. The new film by director Nora Fingscheidt (System Crasher) is a stylised drama based on Amy Liptrot’s memoir. The film has screened at Berlinale and Sundance.
