21st edition of Zagreb Film Festival will be held 6th to 12th November and traditionally its competition program will feature films by new international and domestic authors.

Submissions for ZFF’s competition program are now open; the deadline for submissions for the international feature and short films is 20th August, while the submissions for the Checkers program (Croatian short films) is 17th September. The films in all three main competitions will compete for the Golden Pram Award and cash prizes.

Since its very beginnings the Zagreb Film Festival has been focused on presenting and promoting debut films and new authors. Over the years, the festival program has featured directors such as Anton Corbijn, Steve McQueen, Radu Jude, Xavier Dolan, Andrey Zvyagintsev and Sophia Coppola. The Checkers competition has announced and presented directors on the domestic filmmaking scene, who went on to earn recognition not only in the country, but also on the international festival circuit (Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović, Juraj Lerotić, Hana Jušić, Sonja Tarokić, Josip Žuvan, Dubravka Turić  and others).

The Festival is supported by the Zagreb City Office for Culture, Croatian Audiovisual Centre, Creative Europe MEDIA sub-programme and Zagreb Tourist Board.
