Tycoons: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow

Whatever we call the capitalist powerhouses – tycoons, moguls, magnates or oligarchs, they are our global reality and not film can escape them. Although the great German filmmaker Fritz Lang already portrayed them in the futurist Metropolis (1927), the circulation of large capitalists in European cinema was much less frequent than in the North American. Nevertheless, the Old Continent’s cinema has its stories, its protagonists and antagonists from the tycoon ambience. They will be featured in the selection under the title Tycoons: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow, curated by film critic Diana Nenadić.
