Together Again: ‘Loving’ – Love Story that Changed America

Another film in the Together Again section, Loving by Jeff Nichols, is scheduled for 7.30pm at Tuškanac cinema. The acclaimed American writer and director whose film debut Shotgun Stories won the FIPRESCI Award at Viennale 2007, won the main award at Critics’ Week in Cannes with his second film, Take Shelter.

Loving is based on a true story, a forbidden love of an interracial couple in America in the 1950s.

Banished from their hometown, Richard and Mildred Loving spent almost 10 years trying to fight for their right to live as a family in a place their consider home. Their case reached the Supreme Court and led to the historical abolition of a Virginian law banning interracial marriage.
