Invitation to participate in My First Script workshop at the 17th Zagreb Film

Zagreb Film Festival announces an open call for application for the script development workshop My First Script. The workshop is intended for filmmakers who are preparing a script for their first feature-length film.
From the received applications the total of 6 participants will be chosen to participate in the workshop: two from Croatia, four from Europe, including the participants from the new sub-programme MEDIA countries (such as Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, the Republic of Serbia and Turkey). The 5-day workshop will be held during the 17th edition of Zagreb Film Festival, which will take place from 7th to 17th November 2019.
The purpose of this workshop is to help young screenwriters in making a script for their first feature-length fiction film, under the guidance of two script doctors, experienced screenwriters and/or directors. Through an intense practical program with emphasis on solving problems working in a team, young colleagues will be encouraged, in a relaxed working atmosphere, to successfully complete their scripts.
The workshop is free for all participants. Accommodation and travel expenses will be covered for foreign participants.
Candidates who are interested in the workshop should send the application including:
1. Short resume with personal data
2. Synopsis
3. Script or treatment + minimum 3 elaborated scenes
Candidates from other countries must submit their applications in English language. Projects from Croatia can be submitted in Croatian; however, if accepted, their authors must prepare English translations by the beginning of October.

Throughout previous seven editions of the workshop, a total of 42 projects from different European countries participated in the workshop. Seven projects are already produced, in the phase of pre-production or in the phase of post-production process. Two films that have been developed on the workshop have been screened in the program of Zagreb Film Festival, The Frog by Elmir Jukić as a part of 15. ZFF and The Load by Ognjen Glavonić which was premiered in Cannes Directors’ Fortnight program and afterwards won the main award on 16. Zagreb Film Festival.
We wish a lot of luck to all the projects which are on their way to production and looking forward to new MFS applications.
