After his feature debut Pilgrims was awarded Best Film in the Orizzonti competition at the Venice Film Festival, Lithuanian director Laurynas Bareiša continues to delight festival audiences and critics with his second film. Scooping up awards for Best Direction and Best Performance at Locarno, Drowning Dry follows the far-reaching consequences of a family vacation, with a nice dose of warmth and humor. With precise direction that has attracted comparisons with Michael Haneke, the film takes us through fragments of events that gradually fit together like a puzzle, until we finally discover what happened on that fateful summer day.
