As many as four films from the 19th ZFF awarded in Seville

A whole range of films from the program of the 19th Zagreb Film Festival were laureates at prestigious festivals and nominated for important awards. Good news is also coming from the Seville European Film Festival, where four films from this year’s program have won seven awards.

The festival winner is the film from ZFF’s Main program — Great Freedom, a story by Sebastian Meise about an unusual love between two inmates in post-war Germany. For his role as one of the inmates, Franz Rogowski won the best actor award, and the film was also awarded by the Andalusian screenwriters’ association.

Jonas Carpignano was awarded best actor for the film A Chiara, which will screen in the Together Again program. The cast of this tense drama set in the South of Italy also won Special Mention.

The Seville audience also awarded two films from ZFF’s program. The best film in the EFA selection went to The Worst Person in the World, new film by Joachim Trier, from the Together Again program. The winner of the Extraordinary Stories Award, which is also decided by the audience, is Laura Samani’s debut Small Body. This mystical fairytale about sorrow, death, and healing is part of the Network of Festivals in the Adriatic Region program, which will screen in &TD Theatre and online on the kinoeuropa.hr platform.
