A group of teenagers float down a river, pretending to be dead for social media. One of them drifts away unnoticed. As his body moves downstream, it passes people so absorbed in their own lives that they fail to notice the tragedy unfolding in the background. A Few Things Happening by a River, the new short film by Portuguese director Daniel Soares (Please Make It Work, ZFF 2023 – Golden Pram for Best International Short Film), had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
