VIDEO: Directorial methods of Radu Jude

Aside from watching his latest film, Uppercase Print in the Together Again program, we’ll host Romanian director Radu Jude in the Industry program of ZFF. While talking to Croatian director Igor Bezinović, Jude will talk about the similarities and differences of his directorial methods in working on feature and documentary films.

Radu Jude is one of the most renowned European directors of today. He started his career as a director’s assistant, and in 2006 he filmed a short film The Tube with a Hat which won more than 50 international awards. Jude’s feature debut, The Happiest Girl in the World (2009) was screened at more than 50 international festivals and received a special mention by the Zagreb Film Festival. He followed it by films such as Aferim!, Scarred Hearts, and Everybody in Our Family, which won numerous awards: the Silver Bear for director at Berlinale 2015, a special jury prize at Locarno 2016, and EFA’s nomination for best scriptwriter. The international premiere of Dead Nation (2017) in Locarno was his debut in documentary films. His feature I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians (2018) won the Crystal Globe for best film and Europa Cinemas Label in Karlovy Vary.
