A middle-aged man rides through the desert. His name is Silva (Pedro Pascal) and he goes to visit Sheriff Jake (Ethan Hawke), an old friend and lover, whom he hasn’t seen in 25 years. But after one night of passion, the new day will bring to light other reasons for their reunion. Legendary Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar’s first western, which premiered at Cannes, is a sumptuous short queer ode to this classic genre.

Pedro Almodóvar

One of the greatest living directors and screenwriters by and large, Pedro Almodóvar (1949) transformed the landscape of Spanish and world cinema with his distinctive oeuvre. Known for his infatuation with female characters, depictions of the fluidity of gender identities and sexuality, and his criticism of patriarchal and conservative traditions, Almodóvar has crafted an idiosyncratic style in which genres, pop art, irony, camp and melodrama blend and mix throughout his professional career spanning almost half a century. He is the winner of two Oscars and a plethora of other prestigious awards. His filmography includes: Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (1988), Live Flesh(1997), All About My Mother (1999), Talk to Her (2002), Bad Education (2004) and many more.
