Screening of Luxembourg, Luxembourg kicks off fourth Spring Edition at Kaptol Boutique Cinema on 11th April 2024

Ukrainian director Antonio Lukich’s comedy feature Luxembourg, Luxembourg, which was last year’s winner of the Adriatic Audience Award, the audience award for Best Feature of the Network of Festivals in the Adriatic Region, will inaugurate this year’s Spring Edition, a joint venture of five leading regional film festivals. The feature that has been winning the hearts of viewers since its premiere in Venice, will be screened simultaneously at cinemas in Belgrade, Herceg Novi, Ljubljana, Sarajevo and Zagreb (Kaptol Boutique Cinema) on Thursday, 11th April, at 6 p.m.

Luxembourg, Luxembourg is a humorous and poignant feature about fathers and sons. Although there are many beautiful places to die, Luxembourg is not one of them. When they learn that their estranged father is ill in Luxembourg, twin brothers Kolja and Vasja set out on a trip to say goodbye to him one last time. Will the man they find be the bad guy they remember?

Lukich drew on personal experience for inspiration for this tragic comedy about “two small men in search of a big father” that attempts to demythologize the father figure,. We follow Amil and Ramil Nasirov, founders and members of the popular Ukrainian hip-hop band Kurgan & Agregat, in the main roles of Vasja and Kolja, two identical twins with completely different personalities.

The screening at Kaptol Boutique Cinema is free of charge, so register for your tickets at info@zff.hr no later than Tuesday, 9th April. The number of places is limited.

After the Spring Edition opening screening, the program continues from 12th to 21st April, at the online platform ondemand.kinomeetingpoint.ba with last year’s winner of the Zagreb Film Festival, the full length feature How to Have Sex directed by Molly Manning Walker and the environmental documentary feature Plastic Fantastic by German director Isa Willinger. The program is free for all viewers from the territory of the five member countries of the Network.

During the month of April, the film Luxembourg, Luxembourg will screen at the following cinemas: Kinoteka (Zagreb), Zlatna vrata (Split), Art Cinema Croatia (Rijeka), Urania (Osijek), Zona (Zadar), Gaj (Varaždin), Visia (Dubrovnik) and KMC (Bjelovar). The film is distributed by the Zagreb Film Festival.
