Green Practices: From Plan to Action

Workshop program

For the third consecutive year, the Network of Festivals in the Adriatic Region, in cooperation with the Zagreb Film Festival, is organizing a workshop program dedicated to festivals in order to foster awareness of sustainability within the industry. Through practical recommendations and tools, the workshop demonstrates how cultural events can reduce their environmental footprint while simultaneously enhancing program quality, recognition, and long-term visibility.

Last year, festival representatives developed their own sustainable business strategies, and now it is time to demonstrate how those plans were put into practice. Each of last year’s participants will briefly present their experience in implementing the strategies learned: what succeeded, what proved more challenging than expected, and what they would do differently now.

New participants will present their festivals and share the requirements, needs, and challenges related to sustainable business practices, allowing them to build upon the experiences of others.

Workshop leader Morana Ikić Komljenović will then offer new advice and support tailored to the specific challenges and needs of each individual festival. All guidance will be compiled into a new handbook that participants can use as a guide and reference point for future festival organization.
Festivals and cinemas can become inspiring, responsible, and sustainable hubs of community care, and this workshop is a step closer to achieving that goal.
