When his ten-year-old son – a son he never knew existed – shows up at his door, club promoter and party boy Peter realises he probably ought to get serious and find a job. Premiering in Un Certain Regard section at Cannes, Club Kid, the debut feature of Jordan Firstman (I Love LA, 2025), from the very first scene pulls the audience into a vivid world of club nights, ketamine and casual sex, before quickly revealing itself to be a surprisingly touching and witty story of father-and-son bonding. Firstman casts aside his trademark ironic pose and proves himself a sincere storyteller, speaking with disarming candour about fatherhood, New York’s queer scene and belated growing up.
