Thirty-year-old Anna longs for love, but without realising repeats her mother’s unhealthy patterns – until a terminally ill man and his devoted wife show her a kind of love that changes everything. With For Love, director Marko Škop (Let There Be Light, ZFF 2019) closes a trilogy dedicated to parent-child relationships, this time focusing on a controlling mother whose manipulative ways leave a profoundly damaging mark on her daughter’s life. Škop, who began his career as a documentarian (Osadné, Karlovy Vary 2009 – Best Documentary), retains his distinctive style, observing a toxic family dynamic with the detached eye of a fly on the wall.
