One winter weekend, sisters Anica and Irena visit their father, who lives on a remote island with their eccentric brother Ivan. The occasion for the visit is their father’s decision to sell the family land. Confined in the family home that has seen better days, the remarkable ensemble cast led by Marija Škaričić is forced to re-examine their relationships and confront the past. Twelve years after his multi-award-winning film The Reaper, acclaimed Croatian director Zvonimir Jurić (The Blacks, ZFF 2009; White, ZFF 2013; Transmania, ZFF 2016) returns to the domestic film scene with Small Things, a meticulous portrait of a dysfunctional family steeped in the oppressive atmosphere of island life. The film is inspired by the story The Fourth King by Jurica Pavičić, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jurić.
