Pavel Marek
Pavel Marek graduated from the Faculty of Computer Engineering in the Czech Republic and then completed his studies at the Directing Department at FAMU. During the communist era, he co-founded the underground film association Bulsitfilm, in which he started collaborating with surrealist filmmakers and appeared as an actor in the films of the legendary director Jan Švankmajer. His feature-length graduation film Dead Beetle (1998) won the Volkskrant Critics Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. Later he would focus mainly on documentary films and writing scripts for the animation series Pat and Mat. He is a professor at the Directing Department at FAMU, Head of Studies of MIDPOINT Shorts, and works as a script consultant.
Kristýna Plhoňová
Kristýna Plhoňová joined MIDPOINT Institute in 2014 and has worked as a program coordinator since 2016. She currently manages Focus CZ, Editing Room, and a range of national MIDPOINT Intensive workshops. She also curates MIDPOINT Homecoming, an alumni initiative aimed at strengthening professional connections across MIDPOINT’s international network.
Markéta Špatenková
Markéta joined the MIDPOINT team in September 2021. She is the main production coordinator for the MIDPOINT Shorts program and works in assistant production for MIDPOINT Feature Launch.
