Riding his bicycle through the streets of a foreign city, Alfredo, a young Italian student, gets caught in a storm. Looking for shelter, he hears a strange beckoning coming from a porn cinema that seems to have emerged from another time. Driven by his fantasies, Alfredo soon becomes a prisoner in a dangerous game that takes place inside the cinema.

fiume, Julian McKinnon

fiume makes activist, documentary and fiction films, videos cobbled together from archive footage and memories. His first film, Héroïnes (2022), tells the story of Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore’s mad resistance in Jersey in the 1940s. After the giallo title La Vedova Nera, he continues pursuing his passion for genre films.

Julian McKinnon (1986) is a screenwriter based in Marseille. His collaborative work with French filmmaker and activist fiume challenges dominant representations of gender and agency through a subversive queer lens. Together, they traverse genres such as surrealism, vampire film, and Italian giallo. La Vedova Nera (2023) is their second collaboration and Julian’s directorial debut.
